Course Format

This is a self-paced, self-study e-learning course. The estimated completion time is approximately 2 hours.


Target Group

Non security staff (all) – all staff employed by airport operators, aircraft operators, regulated and known suppliers of in-flight supplies, known suppliers of airport supplies and any other organisation (including handling agent staff) not directly engaged in aviation security controls but have unescorted access to security restricted area of an airport.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of previous acts of unlawful interference with civil aviation, terrorist acts and current threats
  • Awareness of the relevant legal requirements
  • Knowledge of the objectives and organisation of aviation security, including the obligations and responsibilities of persons implementing security controls
  • Understanding of the configuration of the screening checkpoint and the screening process
  • Awareness of access control and relevant screening procedures
  • Knowledge of airport identification cards used at the airport
  • Knowledge of reporting procedures
  • Ability to respond appropriately to security related incidents

  • Knowledge of prohibited articles
  • The definitions used in security incidents involving Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) – to become familiar with the terminology and acronyms used.

Certificate Awarded

Upon successful completion of the assessment, you will be granted an Award Certificate that you can download and print for your records.


Assessment Information

Each person undergoing security awareness training should be required to demonstrate understanding of all aforementioned subjects before being issued with an authorisation granting unescorted access to security restricted areas.

Delivery method: Unsupervised, online-based exam.
Timing: The assessment can be taken anytime at your convenience.
Format: 30 multiple-choice questions
Time allowance:  45 minutes
Passing grade: 80% correct answers
Number of attempts: 2
